I have encountered two things on the web that I thought might interest you.

Meanwhile, on a lighter note

Thanks for the messages of support, both the ones left here, and the ones emailed.  Sorry for not replying.  It’s been (and still is) – well, you know.
Meanwhile, on a lighter note, and against all the odds, this has been making me feel almost festive:

Review: Frankmusik – Complete Me

I first became aware of Frankmusik (real name Vincent Frank) because he provided a remix of the Pet Shop Boys single ‘Love etc’.  After that, he became one of those people whose names just seem to crop up from time to time, far enough above the radar that you remember who they are, but far [...]

Glastonbury

Ok, so we’ve reached the end of another Glastonbury festival, and it’s now mandatory to say that it was a ‘classic’, and ‘the best Glastonbury ever’.  But the think is, I really don’t think it was.

Yesterday

Yesterday, I cried in the street.

Pet Shop Boys: Yes

The Brit awards: Pet Shop Boys etc.

Last night, in case you had the good luck to miss it, was the annual parade of naffness and mindless hoopla that delights in the name the Brit Awards.  I was mildly disconcerted (read: massively freaked-out) to realise how few of the nominees I recognised.  Not that I wanted to recognise them, but usually I [...]

Pet Shop Boys already said it

Though the chances that I’ve let
Pass me by (and now regret
I can’t forget) -
They’re haunting me
Like a score of unpaid debts.
Is it enough to live in hope
That one day we’ll be free,
Without this fear?

Pet Shop Boys, ‘Discoteca‘, from Bilingual, 1996.

Or will spring bring rain and summer burn?
Will tears at last precede the turn
From summer warmth [...]

Happy New Year

Years of exposure to New Year’s Eve nights in provincial gay clubs means that it’s now impossible for me to see or hear those three words – Happy New Year – without immediately thinking of the devastatingly bleak Abba song of the same name.  Sample lyric:
[...] the dreams we had before
Are all dead, nothing more
Than [...]
